DFRWS APAC 2023
Abstract
This workshop will teach about intellectual property and particularly about copyright infringement as it relates to software. You will learn how to compare software source code and object code to determine correlation and ultimately find indicators of whether one program was copied from another. You will learn how to filter out irrelevant results and unprotectible correlations as required by the Abstraction Filtration Comparison legal test for software copyright infringement. You will also learn how to write up your findings in a manner that is clear and precise and can be used in a court of law. Note that the CodeSuite® tool from Bob’s company S.A.F.E. Corporation will be provided to each student, and licenses will be given out to allow sample code comparisons and filtering.
Requirements:
A good understanding of programming.
