Abstract

Digital datasets provide value to the forensic community but are often difficult to find as they tend to be spread out across various websites and typically not organized. Creating a centralized portal to documented digital forensic datasets that assist in general practitioner training, tool testing, developing an understanding of a tool’s capabilities and limitations benefits the forensic community with a quick and easy way to find and share datasets of interest. The presentation introduces the updated Computer Forensic Reference Data Sets (CFReDS v2.5) project at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
