Abstract
This presentation covers an implementation of a crowdsourced curated catalog of digital forensic artifacts as proposed by Casey E, Nguyen L, Mates J, Lalliss S. Crowdsourcing forensics: Creating a curated catalog of digital forensic artifacts: J Forensic Sci. 2022;00:1–12. https://doi.org/10.1111/1556-4029.1505. This resource is positioned to allow digital forensic practitioners to search for information and solutions in a structured, easily searchable format. Results are intended to be structured, verified, and less likely to be misinterpreted. In the case of knowledge gaps, there is offered a mechanism that practitioners can use to codify and combine their collective knowledge. This presentation introduces a solution that catalogs crowdsourced knowledge of digital forensic artifacts in a form to support efficient and automated extraction of pertinent information, improving availability and reliability of interpretation of artifacts. The artifact catalog website will be hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and be available to the public.
