DFRWS APAC 2020 Call for Abstracts is Open

The first DFRWS APAC conference will be held in Sydney in conjunction with the 22nd Triennial Meeting of the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS) in conjunction with the 25th Symposium of the Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (21 – 25 September 2020).  The Call for Abstracts is open through January 31, 2020.  This event brings together thousands of researchers and practitioners in all forensic disciplines, including those in emerging nations, and will have a major impact on digital forensic science.

The DFRWS digital forensics conference brings together leading researchers, developers, practitioners, and educators from around the world to advance the state of the art in digital forensics. Established in 2001, DFRWS has become the premier digital forensics conference.

The overall theme “Forensic Science 2020 – Where to from here?” aims to develop strategies and solutions to strengthen digital forensic science, and forensic science more broadly. This event is a unique opportunity to share digital forensic knowledge, best practice and research across the scientific, legal and law enforcement communities.

We invite new, original ideas from people in academia, industry, government, and law enforcement who are interested in sharing their results, knowledge, and experience. Authors are encouraged to demonstrate the applicability of their work to practical issues.

Topics of interest include forensic exploitation of the various forms of digital/electronic information that may form part of an investigation (e.g., data from mobile phones, laptops, PCs, PDAs, GPS systems, fax machines, etc.), including its collection, analysis and interpretation.

Questions about submission topics can be sent via email to: apac-papers (at) dfrws (dot) org.

Accepted papers will be required to utilize Elsevier’s template for research papers.

Presentations, posters, workshops, and demos undergo a light review process to select presentations of maximal interest to DFRWS attendees and filter out sales pitches. Presentations are of 20 minutes duration and are delivered alongside academic papers in the technical program. Pre-conference workshops occur on the starting Monday and then the DFRWS APAC will run as a track during the larger IAFS conference. These are intended as in-depth and practical learning opportunities for attendees and often include hands-on participation by attendees. Workshop proposals must specify their target length of either 2 or 4 hours. Workshop submission guidelines are available here: https://iafs2020.com.au/workshops/Workshops

The objective of this joint DFRWS, IAFS and ANZFSS convening is to be a focal point for anyone involved or interested in making the world safer and fairer with science and medicine.
