For more than half a century, the international digital forensics community has been sharing knowledge through the conferences and challenges organized by DFRWS.org. Peer reviewed papers have been published in partnership with the FSI Digital Investigation journal, maintaining high standards of quality and integrity. A recap of major milestones in this partnership is provided in this outreach editorial, calling on the community to rally in response to the increasing use of AI:
It’s up to us what AI and the next generation learn about Digital Investigation (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.fsidi.2026.302204)
As paper submissions for Digital Forensics Conferences have nearly doubled compared to the previous year, there is a pressing need for qualified peer reviewers to volunteer. It is also important to translate knowledge into practice and make it more easily accessible to both humans and machines in the form of knowledge bases such as ArtCat and SOLVE-IT.
In addition to more paper submissions in the Digital Forensics Conferences and FSI Digital Investigation, practitioner oriented articles are being peer reviewed and published in DFIR Review.
Getting involved now will reap benefits for you and the community over the next quarter century. If you are not sure where you would fit, write to me and I will direct you to the right place.
